Microsoft Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL Launched Alongside Dual SIM, LTE Variants

Microsoft has launched the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL alongside dual-SIM and LTE variants of the handsets at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The Lumia 640 will be available globally starting April and will be available in 3G and LTE models. The Microsoft Lumia 640 is a single SIM device with LTE support while theMicrosoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM is a dual-SIM device offering 3G connectivity support. It will be available at a starting price of EUR 139 (Rs. 9,600 approximately) for the 3G version while the LTE model will be available at EUR 159 (Rs. 11,000 approximately) before taxes and subsidies.
Microsoft’s first budget Windows powered phablet Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is likely to be available in four variants: Microsoft Lumia 640 XL, a single SIM 3G variant;Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE, which is a single SIM LTE variant; Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM, a dual-SIM 3G variant, and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE Dual SIM, a dual-SIM LTE variant.
It will be available starting March and comes at a starting price of EUR 189 (Rs. 13,000 approximately) for 3G model and EUR 219 (Rs. 15,150 approximately) before taxes and subsidies.
Microsoft’s official India website now lists the Lumia 640 Dual SIM, Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM, and Lumia 640 XL LTE Dual SIM tipping that the Lumia 640 might not be launched in India.
Microsoft on its official blog post said, “Today we announced two new, affordable Lumia phones: the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL , both of which give people the flexibility to do more anywhere, and at any time. These phones will be upgradable to Windows 10, when it becomes available later this year.”
The Redmond giant is additionally offering a one-year personal subscription to Office365 with both the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. The free one year Office 365 subscription will enable full Office use on the Lumia handsets while can be also used on one tablet and one PC/Mac. In addition to Office 365, Microsoft is also offering subscription of 1TB of storage on OneDrive.
Much like other Lumia handsets, the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will feature popular features and apps such as Cortana, Skype, Office, Outlook, and OneDrive.
Both the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL come with Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update out-of-the-box. Both the handsets are powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. The new Microsoft Lumias also pack an 8GB of built-in storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL also feature some differences in innards. The former sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; packs an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 0.9-megapixel front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Lumia 640 XL features a large 5.7-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss optics and a 5-megapixel front camera. The Lumia 640 XL also packs a large 3000mAh battery while the Lumia 640 includes 2500mAh battery.
